Abstract
This editorial briefs the articles which were featured in this issue of Educational and Child Psychology. This special issue on giftedness highlights research on a range of aspects and considers some of the challenges that face gifted children, their parents and their teachers. In particular, the papers consider ways in which educational and other systems endeavor to foster positive development, in gifted children both academically and more broadly across all spheres of human functioning. Many educational psychologists will recall occasions when children presenting with problems of one kind or another have been found to have high IQ scores which were unanticipated by those who work with them on a daily basis. Some of the articles in this issue have suggested, in order to help children maximize their potential, a broader understanding of giftedness, together with appropriate measures to aid identification of gifted persons, are needed. titleTranslation: Editorial invitado abstractTranslation: Este editorial resume los artículos que se presentaron en este número de Psicología Educativa e Infantil.
