Title
Psychobiology of giftedness: Moving beyond the nature-nurture controversy
Abstract
This chapter will attempt to provide an overview of current findings in relation to how giftedness is perceived from the perspective of the neurosciences. A historical account of conceptions of giftedness as being either innate or environmentally-driven will be explored to provide a framework as to how such models have evolved (and may be interpreted now) in light of advances in technology and brain-based research. The implications of brain imaging studies on educational practices are likewise discussed. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2022 APA, all rights reserved)
